Rita May (Pittman( Miller, 89, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away quietly on December 15, 2025 with her loving husband by her side. Rita was born in Couer d’Alene, Idaho on June 5, 1936 to Richard and Emma (Pierson) Pittman. She graduated from Couer d’Alene High School in 1954 and briefly attended North Idaho Junior College (now NIC). She married the love of her life, Darrell W. Miller, on June 4, 1955 and they were fortunate to share 70 wonderful years together. She was a faithful member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene for many years until her mobility was compromised by Parkinson’s disease.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell, daughter Laura Miller (Nicholas and Khang Valentine and Syris Valentine), son Barry (Leann) Miller (Abby (Preston) Conger and Emily Miller), and daughter Marilyn Patterson
(Shawn Patterson, Christine (Kirk) Simons, and Michael Patterson) plus
4 great-grandchildren (Clara, Myra and Theo Conger and Madeline
Simons).
She will always be remembered for her warm welcome and ready smile.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family wants to extend their appreciation to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living and Hospice of North Idaho for all the care and support Rita received over the past 18 months.
