Rita Nossaman, age 86, passed away on September 10, 2025, in Plano, TX. A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday Oct 4th, 2025, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home at 3002 N Van Buren,
Enid, OK with lunch and gathering afterwards at their event center. A headstone will be placed at the Enid Cemetery next to her parents. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the
National Kidney Foundation in Rita's name at support.kidney.org Rita was born Rita Rae Fields to Kenneth and Aneita Fields on Sept 7, 1939, in
Enid, OK. She was the third child of four with older brothers Richard and Kenneth Jr (Corky) and younger sister Judy. They were a farming family growing up in Oklahoma, and soon moved to Driftwood, OK in 1952, which would be where all the kids grew up and went to school as their parents worked the farm. Rita graduated from Byron-Driftwood high school in 1957 and gave the Valedictorian Address to a class of 8 Seniors. Rita, in addition to her scholastic record, lettered in basketball for 4 years and in tennis for 2 years. She participated in high school music groups for 3 years. Rita then married Elmer Nossaman on Dec 21st, 1958, whom she had met in high school. Rita and Elmer then lived in Houston while Elmer attended college, graduating in 1961. While in Houston, Rita worked for AT&T as a switchboard operator to help bring in a little money. Their oldest son, Paul, was born in Houston in April of 1961. The family then moved to Cherokee, OK with the intent of settling down when their second son, Brent, was born in July of 1962. However, the family soon moved to Enid OK in 1964 where in March of 1968, their first daughter Lisa was born. The family then moved to Guymon, OK in 1969 and where their youngest son Brian was born in April 1971. Living in Guymon for many years, Rita was a busy mom and housewife running a household and raising her children with many activities. Being a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, she was involved with many groups within the church. In 1980, Rita also went to school to become a professional beautician to keep herself occupied. After a divorce, Rita moved back to Enid in 1989 and spent a few years working as a beautician before having a career working for the Oklahoma Department of Health and Human Services. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Enid and many other community groups. She spent her retirement years helping raise grandchildren and traveling with her children. She loved being able to travel and see new places, mainly beaches with her daughter. She got to travel with Lisa in 2001 to Greece and 2003 to China as a choir mom with Lisa's church choir. For the last 16 years she has lived in the Tulsa area living in Bixby, OK staying close to family and friends. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa. After some ongoing health issues, she recently moved to Prestonwood Court Assisted Living in Plano, TX on July 1st, 2025, where she passed away peacefully in Sept 2025. Rita loved sewing and making clothes and blankets for all her children and grandchildren. She also maintained friendships with her sorority sisters in entertaining for book clubs and other social events. She loved doting on all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spoiled them immensely. Rita is survived by her 4 children: son Paul Nossaman and wife Jessica of McKinney, TX; son Dr Brent Nossaman and wife Molly in Tulsa, OK; daughter Lisa Nossaman in Dallas, TX; son Brian Nossaman in Dallas, TX. She has grandchildren Paxton Nossaman of Tulsa, OK; Harper Hossack of Tulsa, OK; Grace (Nossaman) Padilla and husband Bryan in Allen, TX; Katie Nossaman of Dallas, TX; Katlyn Montalbano of Albuquerque, NM; Randy Wilbur and wife Silvana of Melbourne, FL; Madison (Nossaman) Rush and husband KJ of Little Rock, AK; Lauren (Hurd) Gruschin and husband Nik of Collinsville, OK. Rita also has 10 great grandchildren.
