Rita Elizabeth Piano

Piano, Rita Elizabeth age 83 of Newton, NJ passed away Sunday evening April 21, 2024 at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice Fredon Twp., NJ following a brief illness. Born and raised in Paterson, NJ she had also resided in Hackettstown briefly before settling in Sparta where she lived for forty-four years. Rita has resided in Newton since 2004.
Daughter of the late John and Rose (nee Leone) Barone, Rita was a graduate of Paterson Central High School class of 1958. She had a long career as an Administrative Assistant in the Accounting Department of Pfizer Pharmaceutical. A fifty-five-year parishioner of the Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church Sparta, NJ, Rita was a talented cook. She also enjoyed needle point, playing piano and gardening.
Rita was predeceased by her brother Robert Barone. She is survived by her daughter Rita Marie Piano, her son Anthony John and his wife Christie Piano as well as her three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Veronica Herig her brother Emanuel Barone as well as her former husband Anthony Paul Piano.
Visitation will be held Wednesday April 24, 2024 from 4 to 6 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main Street (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ 07860. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning April 25, 2024 at 10 AM in the Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church #294 South Sparta Ave. Sparta, NJ 07871.
