Rizza Souther Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'ahu Mortuary on Dec. 11, 2025.
Rizzalee Divina Souther, 32, of Ewa Beach, moved through this world like a rare kind of light-curious, instinctive, and impossibly loyal. She lived in many places, gathering pieces of the world as she went, but for the last thirteen years she rooted herself in Hawaii, where her life unfolded in love and courage.
Rizza had a way of learning from every person she met, as if everyone carried a story worth honoring. She lifted others with a strength that came from somewhere quiet and deep, even while fighting her own unseen storms. She protected people without needing to be asked. She cared without limit.
Years ago, she made a promise beside a hospital bed: to keep Brandi and her mother safe. It was a vow spoken softly but held fiercely. In her final moments, Rizza kept that promise with a bravery that defined her life. She left this world a hero, shaped by devotion and instinctive love.
She never needed grand moments to feel whole. Her happiness lived in the ordinary: being together, sharing space, feeling the steady warmth of family and their beloved animals. She is reunited now with their fur babies-Cheeto (13), Nala (12), Hapah (5), Chinchilla (5), and Jazzi Vinyl (2)-who passed the night before she did. They meet her in whatever comes next, the little souls she protected as fiercely as they protected her.
She is survived by her mother, Lita Wood; her father, Monty Wood; and her fiancée of eight years, Brandi Yoshida, who was her home, her partner, and her chosen future.
A private service will be held for immediate family and close friends. The ceremony will be streamed for virtual attendance so those who loved her from afar may join in honoring her life. Additional viewing information will be shared privately with invitees.

Rizza came into my life through family, and she will always be viewed as family to me. Many mornings were spent like this:
Hanging out til late with my cousin and her partner, and early mornings to get to work/ school. Rizza always radiated positive energy. We linked back up again through the years and it felt like no time had passed. Thank you for all the amazing memories, being one of the first people I connected with when I moved back to Hawaii, you´re missed so much fam.

I met Rizza during the summer of 2012. She found me online within the local LGBTQAI+ community. At the time, I found out we were only living a few blocks away from each other. We instantly hit it off and became best friends for many years during her first seasons in Hawai´i. Truthfully, many of our memories are from simply being young, wild, and free. But Rizza had a deep love and care for all of us, and her and I shared an especially close connection. I loved her smile, laugh, and always being down for adventures, even if it was just a quick walk or drive to clear our heads. Along with our personal group of friends, I am deeply honored and blessed to have known such a beautiful young woman, great friend, and creative mind. I´m going to cherish our friendship forever and miss her deeply for the rest of my life. We all love you Rizza!

Rizza and I weren't friends and we didn't hang in the same friend group, but I always noticed her in passing in high school, and I always thought she was a cool person. She just gave off those vibes instantly, and I would have liked getting to know her. I send my condolences to all her loved ones.

Rizzalee - You were and always will be my best friend. The first words we ever said to each other, back in `06 in the halls of South Mountain Middle School; you said "you know you´re really tall." And my reply? "You know you´re really short." From then on, we were inseparable. For 19, going on 20 years, you knew me better than anyone; even from so far away. You had a heart of gold, always thinking of others before yourself. That was held true until your last moments.

I´ll never forget when I found out. I broke. I couldn´t contain my tears. Why my best friend? Why you? We were just 7 months away from seeing each other again. You were going to meet my little mini me for the first time. We had a whole plan.

I miss you every single day. There´s not a day that goes by since you´ve been gone that you haven´t given me a sign that you´re watching over me.

I love you so much and I´ll continue to be here for Brandi, as she is apart of our family now as well because of you.

Please keep watching over me and your PA family. We love and miss you so much
