Roba Ball Taylor, 88, of Signal Mountain passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Raised in Pinckard, Alabama, Roba was a graduate of Newton High School. She worked at Ft. Rucker, Alabama where she met her husband, Charles. After their marriage, they moved to Charles' hometown of Savannah, Georgia and started their family life together, welcoming their first son, Chuck and daughter, Carolyn. They later moved to Norfolk, Virginia where they welcomed son, James. They finally settled in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1971, where she lived for 53 years.
Roba was a devoted member of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Knoxville. She served faithfully on the Alter Guild and the Wedding Guild. Through the church she lived her faith serving others through
Habitat for Humanity, FISH for those in need of food and helping the mentally challenged.
Roba was known by many for her quick wit, great storytelling, and infectious laugh. She was a master seamstress, loved gardening and was a member of the Knoxville Garden Club. An avid reader and lifelong learner she pursued her degree by attending the University of Tennessee.
Her greatest joy was her family. She was a deeply devoted, loving, and strong advocate for all those she loved. She steadfastly cared for her husband through his illness honoring their 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2014.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles W. Taylor, Jr.; her sister, Elderene Coldiron; and great-grandson, George Alexander Taylor.
Survivors include her children: Charles (Chuck) W. Taylor, III (Laura), Carolyn Taylor Kelsey (Roger) and James Richard Taylor (Courtney); her grandchildren: Charles William Taylor, (Kaitlyn), Mary Kelsey Jeppesen (Zach), Anna Taylor Green (Cody), Aaron Taylor Kelsey, Sidney Jane Taylor and Avery Rose Taylor; her four great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Ted Ball and Leon Ball (Brenda).
Roba was a true force of generosity, selflessness, service, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and forever loving remembered.
