ROBBIE BRIDGES POWELL
Memphis, TN: Robbie Louise Bridges Powell age 91 passed away May 31, 2024, at Regional One in Memphis.
She was born June 6, 1932, in Hardin County, TN the daughter of the late James Elbert and Linnie Mae Pearson Bridges.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Williams (David) of Memphis, TN and Pamela Hensley of Henderson, TN; her brother, James Bridges of Sardis, TN; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She married Robert Powell on December 23, 1951. They had three children, Sharon., Pamela and Janet. They made Memphis their home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Janet Powers, her parents, Mae and Elbert Bridges and four grandchildren and one great grandchild, three brothers, Detrois Bridges, Fay Bridges and Ray Bridges and four sisters, Juanita Green, Opal Williams, Rose Hardin and Betty Sue Mulhearn.
Robbie was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved and adored by all who knew her.
She was a life-long member of Raleigh Primitive Baptist Church.
She worked for the City of Memphis for twenty-three years.
She was a baker and baked hundreds of cakes for birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. She also loved gardening and canning.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 9th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Phil Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Milledgeville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday service time.
