Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Robert, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the Family and Friends of Pfc. Robert A. Guy:
I will stand in grief with this Marine's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew Pfc. Guy personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous man will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this Marine and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Warrior:
I have been to that dirty place where you left us from, and I know how fortunate I am to still draw breath, to still kiss my loved ones. I now train young men much like yourself, all whom have the potential to make the same sacrifice you've made for their country, for their colors, for their Corps. I read your obit on "Maryland's fallen" and was inspired to write a letter to the editor of the Baltimore Sun b/c of your story as well as those other devil dogs who paid such a high price from our beloved home state. I'm going to attempt to cut and paste that letter onto this entry. Semper Fidelis,
SSgt Bo Miller, 1st Bn, Bravo Co. PI DI.
Dear Sun:
I write this letter to your paper and organization with a heart brimming with pride and gratefulness. You see, I am an active duty US Marine, and I hail from the beautiful town known as Westminster, Maryland. Before today, I never knew that your newspaper's website featured the link called "Maryland's fallen," but I would be remiss were I not to emphasize what it means to guys like myself.
In the past when I've come home to Maryland, I've never been at a loss when feeling as though Maryland still had hope when it came to it's requisite levels of patriotism. Were I to stroll into my favorite hometown watering hole, or even into an establishment I had never been to before, upon seeing my "high and tight" haircut, folks would go out of their way to express their thanks for my service. Even then, however, there was a part of me that felt as though my fellow Marylanders didn't realize what it means to be a Marine; that despite their exposure to 24/7 media coverage these days and the like, they just didn't get it. Sure, they may know the exact death count of US service members since the start of the war on terrorism, but they didn't know what the war meant to those of us who had been there, done that. I can't really speak for my sister services, but I know in my heart of hearts what it means as a Marine to have defended my country.
As Marines, we all have opinions. Trust me. I've heard them all. You can bet with assurance that whether we're talking about the lowest private in the ranks(E1), a Gunnery Sergeant(E7), a Lt. Colonel(O5), or a General(O10), we've all got our share of gripes about where things have been, where they're at now, or where they're headed. Bet with that same assurance, though, you'll never hear it from us. Marines don't do that. What Marines do is volunteer to defend the US Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. We defend your right to that free speech, to that questioning of your government's motives in this war, while we give up our own right to do so. I mention this so that more of your readers will take notice of your featured link I previously mentioned, "Maryland's fallen." These heroes paid the ultimate sacrifice, often times leaving behind many, many loved ones. Take the time to click on the icons on the map, each representing a different Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine. Try to imagine what life would be like if one day you lost your husband, wife, father, mother, sister or brother. Each of these men are represented and honored by a folded US flag, a Purple Heart medal, and now this tribute link to Maryland veterans. These serve as the tangible reminders to those left behind in the real world of the price of your freedom. But they don't have to be the only reminders.
When you see that kid that used to rake your lawn back in the day, or was on your son's cross country team, and he's returned home on leave, go shake his hand. Offer to pay for a beverage of his choice. Heck, offer to pay for a few of them. Offer your thanks with the knowledge that he's not used to being thanked enough, and thank his loved ones as well, for they often are the ones whose sacrifice go unrecognized or unappreciated the most.
Baltimore Sun - this Marine gives his sincere thanks and appreciation for your online tribute to his fallen comrades.

Bobby,
I know it's been awhile, but somehow that doesn't seem to matter. I still think of you, I still talk about you, I still miss you with all my heart.
I dedicated my Salutatorian address to you. Everyone who knows me knows about you. You were such an influence, always pushing me harder than anyone else, expecting more than I expected of myself.
And as I sit here, writing a letter to you, I can remember all the times we talked. And fought. I will never forget the last time I saw you. Never forget all the advice you gave me.
Bobby, you were one of the best guys I've ever met and it's a crying shame that you're gone. I keep you alive in my heart and in my thoughts.

Robert was a regular visitor to my back yard! He had to put the cigaretts out and watch his language, but he never had a problem with that. Sometimes he would slip and in that deep voice and cocky grin say, "Sorry Ms. Melinda". My daughters, Racheal and Erika and Robert hung out jumping on the trampolien or just sitting and talking for hours. At the time they were only about 11 years old and 13 years old. Robert was like the big brother that always made them laugh. I remember him as the easy going young man with a quick smile. Always polite and ready to help if needed. God bless his family! He will be missed.

Guy had respect for his peers. He loved to shoot pool. He passed my house with his pool stick case in hand, on his way to shoot a game of pool. Never a time that he walked by my house and I was out in the yard he didn’t go by without speaking to me or giving me a wave.
As for his friend in Iraq Brandon Johnson, “Guys best friend” They met at boot camp and were assigned in Iraq together. Guy will surely be missed by his buddy Brandon. I met Brandon’s mother Kathy Johnson and her other marine son at the reception at Willard’s Lions Center after the funeral. She should be proud having two sons in the marines serving our country.
