Robert Allen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Inc. - Lansdale on Feb. 18, 2026.
Robert A. Allen, 84, of Lansdale and formerly of Fairport, NY, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was the loving husband of Diane (Ingrey) Allen, his wife of 61 years.

Born July 21, 1941 in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Lois (Stewart) and Rev. Robert A. Allen, Sr.

As an administrator with the University of Rochester for 40 years he used his creativity and insight to impact students, the local community and the world through organizations such as the United Way, USAID and the African Student Center.

He was a long time member of Mountain Rise United Church of Christ in Fairport, NY, where he chaired various committees, and was proud to sing in the choir with his wife.

Robert was a lifelong member of the Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks where he learned to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. He was a proud "46er" having hiked all the high peaks in the Adirondacks and inspired younger generations to appreciate outdoor adventures.

Since moving to Pennsylvania, he remained active at the North Penn YMCA and at the Montgomery County Senior Games. He enjoyed engaging with his grandchildren with his wife, watching soccer games, going to track meets, or going to Freddie Hill for ice cream (on a special day). He's passed on his best qualities, values and love of fitness, outdoors and ice cream to his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Paul Robert Allen (Eve) of Iron Station, NC, and Beth Allen Staab (Curtis) of Lansdale; six grandchildren, Zachary, Abigail, Luke, Ryan, Collin, and Trevor; and four sisters, Margaret Mengers of Media, PA, Dorothy May of Beverly, MA, Carol DeLetis (Dale) of Milton, MA, and Kathleen Allen (Richard Fahlander) of Concord, MA.

Funeral arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Bob's memory to the Silver Bay YMCA, 87 Silver Bay Road, Silver Bay, NY 12874.
