To the Family - Brother Bob was a wonderful shining light to me, and my family. He was my pastor at First UMC in Decatur, and then married my wife and I at East Lake UMC. His smile would illuminate a room, and he brought Christian love wherever he went. He has left the pain of this life, and joined the angels in heaven. My love goes out to all in the family.

May God give you strength, support and comfort during this difficult time. Be assured of his deep love and concern for you. 1 JOHN 4:9,10,19.

I knew and loved Rev Bob Archibald early at First Methodist Church of Decatur, Al when my family attended there from !948 until 1971. He was 5 years younger than I; just what one wanted, that I needed for a minister. Positive outlook, reassuring, caring-smiling, with an inner peace he shared. I happened upon him recently at the Riverside,once my high school, now a Retirement Home for many friends and relatives when My daughter Marti n I visited there.I wasn't sure he could remember me but he smiled as though he did. I sure was glad to see him again. I know he was loved by many and will be missed. His family and friends can be comforted by having had him in their lives.

My thoughts are with Brother Bob's family during this time of celebration and sadness. Bob and Mary were among the stalwarts who held me and my mother, Virginia Altham Jones, close during those early years at Grace UMC. She and I spoke of them often over the years and she followed his career closely. Bob was an early hero in my life and remained a mentor and guide throughout my years.

Murray and family, I was sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I still remember him from church on Monte Sano. You all will be in my prayers.

None of your family knows me but when I read Bro. Bob's obituary (and it was so beautifully written!) it brought back such wonderful memories of times I knew him at Camp Sumatanga. Those memories are such a blessing to so many who knew him. Thanks to the whole family for sharing your husband and father so many.

Ramsey, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your grandfather. I will be praying for you and your family. May God hold you close and comfort you during this time.

This beautiful, loving man of God married my husband, Karl Chambliss, and I on 9/17/77 at East Lake United Meth. Church, Birmingham, AL. His father married my parents, Vernon & Betty King on 8/8/53! What a legacy of wonderful pastors!! May God's peace be with your entire family now & forever. We shall never forget his kindness & excellent advice in our pre-marital counseling those many years ago. He is not "homesick" any more, for he is with his Lord. <3

The Rev. Archibald is a Christian Man who lived his faith. He is a scholar, gentleman, preacher, pastor, historian, and a theologian. Brother Bob is blessed to have met and married Mary Holland Archibald and I thank the family for sharing him with the local congregations and the Methodist Connection.

He was one of the many Methodist Ministers that I had the privilege of working with while I was with IMS. He was one that I respected the most. We had some wonderful visits together. My prayers go out to you and the family.
