Beloved husband of the late Andréa Arends and the late Nina Katz. Loving father of Elisabeth Flores, Daniel (Martha) Arends and Rebecca Arends. Proud grandfather of Nathan and Alejandra Arends and August Andréa Snow. Dear brother of Martha, Michael and Edward Arends.
Visitation, Monday, January 15, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Rand Rd. Mt. Prospect, IL. Funeral, Tuesday, January 16, 2024 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Alphonsus Liguori Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd. Prospect Heights for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
Bob was the Owner and President of Exigency, Inc., a risk management consulting firm, and a longtime member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Alphonsus Liguori Church for nearly 50 years, a valued member of the board of trustees and then the fire commission at the Prospect Heights Fire District, and was a talented composer and classical guitarist. He was a lifelong learner who enjoyed philosophy, history, religion, and science. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. Bob was a beacon of light and love to all that knew him.

Robert Arends served the Prospect Heights Fire Protection district as a trustee and a commissioner
Bob served as a trustee from 1988-2009. He then served as a commissioner from 2015-2019.
Bob was a practical person and a critical thinker. He along with other former trustees he ushered in the modern era of the PHFD. This included professional management, the 1991 bond referendum, and the consolidation of the Palwaukee FPD (formerly Wheeling Township FPD) into the PHFPD. Without Bob, we would not be where we are today.
