Robert Eugene Baber, age 75 passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on February 18th, 2025 at Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care. Born on April 29th 1949 to his late parents Marcellus Eugene Baber and Mary Lucille Baber.
Robert was a retired Army Veteran serving over 22 years of service in the Military and Proudly made known to all “I’m Retired Military”. He served in the Vietnam War and during his active duty received many honorary awards including: The Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal along with numerous ribbons of achievements. “Pops” as he was affectionately called by his loved ones, loved to cook and had a passion for collecting and restoring cars. He also loved talking about his Army days, he was most proud to have the opportunity to visit his granddaughter Mariah classroom during Veterans Week to talk to her students and answer questions about the Army. Upon his retirement from the Army Robert began a career in Logistics and worked many years for the government travelling worldwide.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents: Marcellus Eugene Baber and Mary Lucille Baber; Daughter – Demetra (Dee Dee) Brown and Son- Robert (Lil Rob) Miller. Siblings: Sisters- Sharon Baber, Charlene Baber, Linda Baber and Marcella Hargrave.
Robert is Survived by Sons- Juan (Amy) McCloud of Canton, Ohio, Jonathan Baber of South Carolina and Daughter- Tanisha Williams of North Carolina. Bonus Son- Tony Brown I and Bonus Daughter- Shawnta’ Marie Compton. Sisters: Patricia Armstead of Canton, Ohio, JoAnne Baber of Canton, Ohio, Rose Eason Wilson of North Carolina and Beverly Means Nicholson of Canton, Ohio. Brothers: Jackie L Baber of Killeen, TX, William E Baber of Katy, TX, Ronald L Baber of Canton, OH, Jimmy Baber of Houston, TX , Johnny Baber of Houston, TX and Delano Means of Canton, OH, Special Friends – John Harris, Mike Peterson and Marion Brisbon of South Carolina ; Close Friend and Caregiver- Tina Miller of Wooster, OH as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Robert will also be missed by very special friends Demetri Washington of Texas and Moe & Jr. Wright of Wooster, Ohio.
Visitation will be held on, Monday, February 24, 2025 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Home Going Celebration at 10:30 am, at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home.
Interment will be held at 1:15 pm in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio.
