Robert J. Bachman, 87, of Hanover Twp. (formerly of Sweet Valley), passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born in Luzerne, May 6, 1936, he was a son of the late Walter and Theresa Sevenski Bachman. He was a graduate of King's College and served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was Shriner and loved food and eating at good restaurants. He was a member of Irem Temple Golf Club, having won numerous tournaments there, as well as playing golf courses all over the U.S. and in Bermuda. He had a phenomenal memory, enjoying details from history and learning about the Jewish Heritage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Bachman; and a child of his heart, Michael.
Surviving is his wife, the former Marietta C. Bednar, whom he married on Jan. 3, 1984; daughter, Amy Hesser and her husband, Carl; daughter, Abigail Bachman; granddaughter, Aubriella Hesser; sisters, Ann Ondish and her husband, Frank; Carol Coombs; Terri Haberstitch; and Nanci Bachman; child of his heart, Nancy; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Special thanks to his cousins, Paul and Bill Bachman, who shared a special place in his life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that, in memory of Robert, you take an opportunity to reach out and extend a special kindness to someone in need.

My deepest sympathy to Bob's family. He was an exceptionally good person. Always spreading the word of Christ to everyone he met. I am personally thankful for all his support on behalf of my past political campaigns. He was a true conservative and advocate of the common good. I am sure he has received a good reward in Heaven.
