Mr. Robert D. Baird, of Maceo, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born September 29, 1927 to the late W. A. and Maurine Baird in Daviess County. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and a member of Hall Street Baptist Church. He retired as a regional plumbing inspector for the state of Kentucky. He was a former member of Ensor Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, and watching UK basketball and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Norma Hunton Baird, three daughters and son-in-laws, Sandy and Jim Cochrane of Honeyo, NY, Bobbi C. Baird of Thruston, Connie and Alan Baird of Owensboro, six grandchildren, Rob (Betty) Cochrane and Kristan Cochrane all of Louisville, Amber Christian of Bowling Green, Taylor, Haylea, and Luke Baird, all of Owensboro, two great-grandchildren, Trent Cochrane of Lexington and McKanzie Cochrane of Louisville, one brother, Arthur W. Baird, two sisters, Joan Payne and Dodie Howard, all of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, and after 10:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hall Street Baptist Church Activity Bldg. Fund, 1102 Hall Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
