Robert "Bob" Franklin Bales II, of Rolla, MO, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the age of 67.
He entered the world on July 30, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, born to the late Robert Franklin Bales and Marie Cecilia (Hirschfeld) Bales. On July 8, 1987, he united in marriage to Donna Jean (Hill) Bales, starting a devoted partnership that would span many years.
Bob was deeply engaged in his community and dedicated much of his life to public service. He served as Chairman of the Republican Party in both Newburg and Phelps County, roles he took on with pride and commitment. He also shared his voice and perspective through columns he wrote for the Rolla newspaper, earning the respect of many readers. A passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan, Bob rarely missed a game and loved cheering on his favorite team. Above all, he treasured time with his family, finding his greatest joy in moments spent with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Bob will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: his wife, Donna Bales of Rolla, MO; his children, Waylon Bales and wife Jessica of Rolla, MO, Dwayne LaBarge of Mongomery City, MO, Stacy LaBarge of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Oliver "OJ" bales of St. Louis County, Lief Bales of Rolla, MO; two sisters, Mary Hudelson of O'Fallon, MO, Elaine Bullington and husband Don of Troy, MO; seven grandchildren, Ashley and husband Ben, Alley, Carson and fiancé Rachelle, Bella, Wyatt, Josie, Claire; four great grandchildren, Laine, Leo, Henry, Gianna; nephews and nieces, Carl and wife Carrie, Kylon and fiancé Alissa, Cody and Ashley, Cory and fiancé Ashley; and many other family and friends.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Westview Cemetery near Cove, Arkansas.
