Robert Joseph Banic

Robert "Bob" Joseph Banic, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 2, 1930, son of the late Tofie and Madeline (Cheles) Banic in Greenville, PA. Bob met his his wife, Theresa L. (Litchko) Banic in New York City and they were married on September 2, 1950. Bob worked as an operator at Packard Electric Company of General Motors and retired with 42 years of service. He was an active father and grandfather all his life, loved to garden and landscape his beautiful home. He was an involved member of St. William Catholic Church where he and his wife raised five children. Bob served a member of the Knights of Columbus 7491 of Champion and was a founding member of Seven Seventeen Credit Union. He loved to dance and listen to polka's on Sunday's after church. Bob loved to travel with his family and was generous to all he met. He was involved in making the world a better place for his family. He brought joy and an infectious smile to all. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years, Theresa Banic; children, Diane Banic , Gregory (Marianne) Banic, Jennifer (Fernando) Villarreal, Robert D. Banic, and David Banic; six grandchildren, April, Jason (Erin), Amanda, Ryan, Emma and Annabelle; four great grandchildren, Marcus, Justis, McKenna and Arianna; three siblings, Steven Banic, Angeline Augustine and Rita Pyrdec; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Benjamin and Thomas Banic and a great grandson, Maycen Plaskin. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, Ohio from 5:00 to 7:00 PM as well as on Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. William Catholic Church, 5431 Mahoning Ave, Warren, Ohio, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating.
