Robert A. "Bob" Barrick, 79, of Kitzmiller, passed away on December 13, 2024, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on December 23, 1944, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Dwight and Mildred (Burdock) Barrick.
A proud alumnus of Elk Garden High School, Bob dedicated much of his working life to the coal mining industry, retiring from Island Creek Coal. After retirement, he assisted the Town of Kitzmiller with maintenance. He was an active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, where he found community and fellowship. In his younger years, Bob was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing, and trapping, embracing the natural beauty of his surroundings. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness and pride. Bob will be remembered for his love of nature, his commitment to his faith, and his unwavering devotion to his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sivits and husband Russ of Accident; two grandchildren, Rachel Sivits and fiance Blayze Cox of Oakland and Nathan Sivits of Accident; a niece, Kim Phillips McNair and husband Brian, and their son Daniel; and a nephew, Greg Phillips and significant other, Tom.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Scott Barrick; and three siblings, John Barrick, Jim Barrick, and Peg Phillips.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM, at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Nethkin Hill.
The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home is honored to be serving Bob's family.
