Robert Barron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Guinn Family Funeral Homes - Montrose Chapel on Feb. 2, 2026.
Robert Lee Barron - of Montrose, age 79, our cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, was ushered into Heaven on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by his adoring family and best buddy, Toby.

Bob was born on July 18, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, to Lacie and Perry Barron. From his early days in Flint, to his final moments in Montrose, Bob's earthly journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to family, an unrivaled work ethic and an appreciation for the simple joys in life. If Bob wasn't entertaining his family with his epic sense of humor and jokes, he could be found just hanging out with the absolute love of his life for 64 years, Catherine Joyce Diem. Some of Bob's favorite pastimes were birdwatching, hunting, fishing, and cheering on his favorite teams - The Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and The Michigan Wolverines.

Upon retiring from General Motors after 29 years, Bob enjoyed a second career at Marshall's Crossing as their clubhouse manager and self appointed social director. He was loved by all, from children to senior citizens. Although he will be dearly missed, we rejoice and are comforted that Bob is celebrating with God, his savior, and his loved ones.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings, and his sons, Matthew Ryan and Bradley Michael Barron.

He is survived by: Soulmate, Catherine Joyce (Diem) Barron of Montrose; Loving children: Kimberly (Blake) Dilley of Saint Joseph, Robert S. Barron of Montrose, Dawn (David) Elsher of Burt, and Jason (Angela) Barron of Flushing. Bob's legacy will be carried on through his 19 grandchildren, and 11 great grandkids. Each one felt the full impact of his love and pride.

In honor of Bob's love for family, rather than a memorial service, we ask that you take a day to spend with your loved ones and make some memories that will last "beyond time". Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
