Happy Birthday to one of the nicest people I´ve ever known, Bob Basche. Without a doubt he was the greatest boss I had in my sports television career. My time working with Bash at NBC Sports was incredible! What I learned from the "King" of Public Relations has been with me forever. He was a man of ethics, morals, fairness; also one of the most wonderful friends I ever had. Oh how I miss my nick names "South Mouth" (North Carolina) and "Duck" ( told me I walked like one!). Just think.... A loyal "powder blue" Tar Heel & a loyal Notre Dame Fighting Irish made a terrific working team! I thought he would never marry the love of his life, Susan Reed... he finally came to his senses!!! When she walked into his office, that adorable Bash smile just showed eternal love, and he´d always say, "Hi there, Reed!" When I continued on to ESPN, I had quite the adjustment not working with nor continuing to learn from Bob´s talent, tendacity, and leadership. However, I adapted, for he gave me a strong constitution of values, protocal, laughter, and most wonderful memories of NBC Sports to carry my career forward. Bash will always be my "Blue Ribbon Boss!"
Sending support and much love to
Susan & Alex. We´ll all meet in Heaven one day; I´ll be there looking like a Carolina Cheerleader with a sign
"Go Tar Heels!! Beat the Irish!!
