Robert L. Bauer
June 13, 1941 - September 1, 2025
Robert L. Bauer, age 84, of Plain passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025 at his residence following a bout with lung cancer. He was born on June 13, 1941 the son of Anthony and Stella (Richards) Bauer of Franklin Township.
Bob graduated from Spring Green High School in 1959 as class president. Bob was married on November 9, 1963 to the former Marlyn Meyer for over 61 years. He was a longtime member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, and the Plain Fire Department, where he served as Chief for 17 years.
In addition, he was a past president of the Sauk County Chiefs Association, as well as a member of the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs and Firefighters Associations. Bob was also past president of the Hillcrest Riders Club, and Plain Lions Club. Bob worked for Edward Kraemer and Sons for 14 years, and the Town of Franklin for 30 years.
Upon retirement Bob drove dump truck for Nick Heiser for five years, as well as over a decade mowing at Westbrook Hills Golf Course. He enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, golfing, and was an avid fan of the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers.
Survivors include his wife, Marlyn Bauer of Plain; two sons, Rob (Julie) of Verona and Shaun (Kym) of Jefferson. Four grandchildren: Lucas (Courtney) Bauer Prosper, TX, Jillian (Brandon) Haney Little Elm, TX, Courtney Bauer (Brian Stott) Merton, WI and Tara (Mike) Feurig, Kimberly, WI. Four great-grandchildren: Nolan and Cameron Bauer, Harrison Haney, and Raegan Feurig. A sister, Carol (Rudy) Ringlestetter of Portage; and sister-in-law, Maxine Bauer of Madison; as well as his bonus family Mason and Addie Stott. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Stella Bauer; a brother, Allyn Bauer; father and mother-in-law, Hubert and Eleanor Meyer; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Nancy Imhoff.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at St. Luke's Catholic Church from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 p.m., and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m., until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Plain Fire Department.
