Bob Beers, 87 of Lancaster, SC, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026.

He was born on August 8, 1938, in New York City to Frances Beers Slice and Robert Beers. He was raised in Columbia, SC, by Frances and Barnie Slice, Sr. He graduated from Columbia High School and attended the University of South Carolina.

A man of many hats and even more stories, Bob's life was defined by his tireless work ethic, sharp wit, and remarkable ability to reinvent himself. He proudly served on active duty with the U.S. Air Force National Guard in Spain during the Berlin Crisis. After returning home, he spent 14 years in insurance sales before beginning a successful two-decade career in the automobile industry. In June 1985, Automotive Age magazine recognized him as the "best F&I man in the nation" while he was working at Moore-Hudson in Columbia, SC. Even after "retiring," Bob launched a mortgage brokerage company while also buying and renovating homes-never one to sit still for long.

Bob lived a life marked by resilience, curiosity, and a deep, unwavering love for his family. He was well traveled and enjoyed classic cars, being on the water, or on the slopes. He loved guns, boating, snow and water skiing, the USC Gamecocks, the Carolina Panthers, an ice-cold Miller Lite, a shot of Crown Royal, beach music, and dancing the Shag in an effortless style. Bob was a man of service and adventures, a dedicated Shriner who also enjoyed the thrill of skydiving completing 35 jumps. His stories-some humorous, some hard won, all meaningful-were legendary. He had a gift for conversation and a presence that filled any room. He turned ordinary moments into memories, and he will be deeply missed by all who were shaped by his wisdom, humor, unbreakable spirit, and infectious laugh.

Bob is survived by his wife Gail Whisnant Adams Beers, the love of his life; daughter Sheri Beers Jennelle; grandchildren Emma Grace and Logan Jennelle; stepson Robby Adams; sisters Vivian Quattlebaum and Judith Griswold; stepbrother Barnie Slice, Jr.; niece Laura Beers and her husband Karl Kobernus; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by stepbrother James Slice and stepsister Dorothy Ann Bauknight.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Tree Tops Clubhouse, 2198 Acadia Falls Lane, Lancaster, SC 29270. Receiving and refreshments will follow.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bob's name may be made to Sarcoma Cancer - curesarcoma.com or the charitable organization of your choice.
