Robert was born on September 13, 1955 in Jerseyville, Illinois to Charles Ray and Betty (Cherry) Bennett. He was affectionally known as "Happy Pants" to his family and friends. Robert attended The River Church in Pittsburg, Illinois and dearly loved his family. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and on trips to the casino. He was a true sports fan, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, Fighting Illini, St. Louis Blues, and the L.A Rams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Clara Jean Black, and brother Charles Ray Bennett Jr.
Robert is survived by his daughter Renee (Haiden) Locklear; sons Robert Charles Bennett, Matthew Elliott Bennett, and John Pope; and grandchildren Jeriod, Devon, Memphis, and Johnny.
Services will be held on Friday November 14, 2025 at The River Church in Pittsburg at 1100 am with Pastor Stan Serati officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 1961.

Matt, Renee & Chuck please accept my sympathy on losing your Dad. I remember 2 years ago Thanksgiving at Matt´s when your Dad fried delicious fish
for about 12 of us for a wonderful Thanksgiving feast! May you have many fond memories to comfort you at this time! Blessings
