Robert Bennett passed away on December 9 at home, surrounded by the family who loved him most. He was a man of quiet strength. Robert lived with honesty, loyalty, and respect at the core of his being. He did not need to be loud to be strong, nor forceful to be wise. His calm presence brought comfort, and his words carried weight because they were always sincere. He was the kind of person people trusted instinctively, always steady, grounded, and kind in ways that endured.

A master painter for 48 years in and around Natchitoches, Robert took pride in his work and in doing things the right way. He was dependable, meticulous, and fair, traits that defined both his career and his character. Beyond his work, he was a father, brother, friend, and mentor to many, including countless “adopted kids” who found guidance and care in him. He also shared a special bond with his dog, Fuzzy, who brought him comfort and companionship.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Dorothy Stephens Bennett, and his father, Robert Bennett.

He is survived by the love of his life and truest friend, Ellen Bennett. He is also survived by his four devoted sisters: Amy Beth Hicks; Sue Davis (David Savage); Sharon Savage; and Tammy Horton and George Horton, who Robert regarded like a brother. He is survived by his brother, Stephen Michael Bennett, and his wife Louella Bennett. Sue Davis was more than Robert’s sister. She was his constant, his protector, and his “ride-or-die.” Their bond was unbreakable, built on loyalty, trust, and a lifetime of standing side by side. Robert’s greatest pride and joy were his children: Robert Blake Bennett, Ryan Brett Bennett, and his beloved daughter-in-law Lauren Bennett, and cherished daughter, Jordan Bennett. He was a devoted grandfather to Cameron Ryan Bennett and eagerly awaited the arrival of his granddaughter, Parker Denise Bennett. Blake never left his father’s side, standing with him in love and loyalty, offering care, comfort, and support in every moment.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, including Melanie Seeney, Kim Largin, Brandon Horton, and Wesley Savage, along with many others he welcomed into his life as family. Robert shared lifelong bonds with friends who were brothers to him, including Tony O’Quin and David Palmer. He was deeply loved by Ms. Carol O’Quin, who cared for him like a son, and by Kathy, who was like a sister to him.

Robert will be remembered as a man of integrity, quiet wisdom, and unwavering love. His influence lives on in the people he guided, protected, and stood beside. He will be missed deeply and remembered always.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 312 Highway 3191, on December 16 at 6:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Brother Benjamin Kelle, and the eulogy will be delivered by George Horton.
