Robert E. Benoit, a lifelong banker and decorated Vietnam Marine veteran, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025 at the age of 77.
Born in Littleton, New Hampshire on May 14, 1947, Bob was instilled with a strong sense of duty, integrity, and perseverance-values that guided him throughout his life. After graduating from Littleton High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving bravely in two tours in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969. Bob served as a U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant, Vietnam service First Marine Division 11th Marines. His dedication and valor earned him numerous commendations. His service to his country as a Marine remained one of his proudest achievements.
Following his military service, Bob earned an Accounting and Education degree from Plymouth State College. After obtaining his college degree, Bob taught accounting at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire. In 1979, Bob left education and embarked on a distinguished career in banking, where his keen financial acumen and unwavering commitment to excellence earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Over the decades, he held leadership roles at Cornerstone Bank, Bay Bank and Bank of New Hampshire. mentoring countless professionals and helping to shape the banking industry in New Hampshire. His integrity and dedication to his community were hallmarks of his career.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Bob, a loyal friend and an active member of his community. Most recently, he served as a Founding Director of the United in Wellness Leadership Advisory Board, the charitable giving arm of Exeter Hospital. His history of community service also includes serving as a Past President of the Jimmy Fund Council of New Hampshire, Board member of the Southern District YMCA, member of Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Trustee of the New England School of Banking and Treasurer of the American Institute of Banking New Hampshire. In addition to his service, Bob frequently donated to several organizations that were dear to him and those close to him, always giving back to the people and causes he cared about.
Bob will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his unwavering commitment to his country, his profession, and his loved ones.
Bob will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen with full Military Honors.
A celebration of life will be held at CR's The Restaurant at 287 Exeter Road in Hampton on April 30th from 4 – 7 PM.

Bob was a great friend and neighbor. He enjoyed hanging out watching the Boston sports on the tv by the fire as well as having a good meal with us on the grill. You will be missed and in our hearts. David , Michele,Nick and Ry

Bob was a dear friend. I will miss our afternoon porch visits and the fun times we had sharing Gryff. Gryff loved Aunty and Aunty loved Gryff. You were kind and caring of people and pets and helped many. You will be remembered
