Robert W. Berberich

Robert W. 'Dutch' Berberich, 92, of Vandergrift, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, in Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot. Born February 15, 1933, in Munhall. He is the son of the late Conrad and Margaret Yempe Berberich. A Veteran of the U.S Army, having served during the Korean War with the military police. Dutch had been employed by the Kiski Area School District as a world Geography and Physical Education teacher from 1965 to 1993. He had coached the Kiski Area boys wrestling team for 20 years, and also had been the coach of the Kiski Area High School JV football and track team for several years during his tenure. After retiring he continued to participate in wrestling matches as the primary scorekeeper. A member of the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Vandergrift veterans honor guard during this time he had served as the veteran's honor guard VA chaplain. Survivors include a daughter Laura L. Berberich of Cranberry Township. Two sons, Steven (Joy) Berberich of Pleasanton, CA, and Ryan (Jessica) Berberich of New Kensington. Three granddaughters, Grace, Victoria and Kennedy Berberich. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy K. Berberich in 2023. A daughter, Leslie Berberich; four brothers, James Berberich, Patrick Berberich, James Gilooly and Jack Gilooly. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the DUNMIRE - KERR AND ROWE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 244 Franklin Avenue, Vandergrift. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 11 a.m. in the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church with his pastor Brian Ralston officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
