Robert Eugene Berndt

Robert Eugene Berndt, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, returned home to God on December 30th, 2025. Bob was born in Logansport, Indiana on August 11th, 1943, and spent most of his life thereafter living in the Rocky Mountains.

Bob worked underground as a miner for over 30 years, all while raising eight children. He taught his kids to appreciate nature, guitar, and Notre Dame football. In his later years, he could be found fly fishing, watching movies, or cheering on the Cubbies with his family. He will be remembered for his long-running jokes, joyful loving spirit, and devoted faith.

He will be deeply missed by his daughters Shannon Hofferber (Andy), Cara Berndt, Sarah Moran (Thomas), Hannah Berndt, Leah Dee Berndt (Dominic); sons Jesse Berndt, Daniel Berndt (Courtney), and Joseph Berndt (Madison); grandchildren Justin White, Seth McCrery, Marissa McCrery, Stella Berndt, Ruby Berndt, Ellis Berndt, Dorothy Berndt, Miles Moran, and Carl Berndt; great-grandchild Frank White; brothers Richard Berndt, Phil Berndt, Michael Berndt, and Gerald Berndt; and mother of his children, Jenifer Berndt.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ruby Berndt; brothers Donald Berndt and Daniel Berndt; and sister Joan Helms.

Family and friends will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Church of St. Charles Borromeo, 2739 Stinson Pkwy NE, St. Anthony, MN. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM in the atrium at St. Charles. Luncheon will follow Mass. Private family interment will be at Sunset Funeral Home and Cemetery afterwards.
