Robert Bezjak Obituary

Robert R Bezjak passed away November 16, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in Greendale, WI. He was a lifelong passionate fan of all Wisconsin sports teams, his family, friends, and the Greendale community he called home since 1967.

He is preceded in death by his parents Julia and Louis Bezjak, his brother William, and the love of his life Sandy who died in 1999. He is survived by his five children and their spouses Rob (Liz) Bezjak, Randy (Terry) Bezjak, Ann-Marie (Jeff) Drews, Brett (Becca) Bezjak, and Debbie (Mike) Armbruster. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sam Bezjak, Ben and Danny Drews, Lauren Jarantowski-Bezjak, Logan and Brandon Bezjak Andrew and Matthew Kopec. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Andrea “Cookie” Fedler, and brother-in-law Wally Rofkahr. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rob was a gifted student, graduating high school in 3 years from Boys Tech, and then worked at the Milwaukee Journal before joining the Army, where he served at Fort Lewis, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. While in the service and at home he enjoyed playing baseball on a semi-pro basis. He was offered a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals which he declined for family reasons.

After meeting Sandy at the World’s Fair in Seattle in the spring of 1962, the couple married in June of 1963 and he began a successful career at Kearney and Trecker as they moved their growing family to Greendale, on Devonshire Avenue.

Both Rob and Sandy were active together in the youth sports community, encouraging their five kids and friends to play, while providing the administrative support as coaches, coordinators and league commissioners. They also became very active at their church, St Alphonsus in Greendale, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and both enjoyed worshiping in the Good News singers, and participating in various variety shows and fund raisers.

His passion for golf took a long sabbatical while there were teams to coach and games to watch, but it returned with a vigor as the children moved into their college years. He continued to work to create opportunities to play for others as a manager for several senior golf leagues until he decided to retire from the leagues he enjoyed in 2022. In addition, his longtime passion for bowling created a pathway to additional friendships that endured for many years. He was recognized for high scores and perfect games on multiple occasions.

He was a cheerful giver and loved sharing his blessings with deserving organizations including: Make A Wish, St Judes, Veterans Service Programs and The Police Association to name a few.

Following Sandy’s passing and his eventual retirement from Giddings and Lewis post Kearney and Trecker merger, he became a leader in the Milwaukee chapter of WOW, making many new friends who had lost their spouses.

In March, 2025 he learned his very kind heart was failing. He began treatment, sold his dream home which he built in 1978 on Radburn Lane and transitioned to assisted living at Harbour Village. He was very proud to call Greendale his home. He was very appreciative of all the doctors, nurses, aides and emergency care workers who cared for him in these final months in ways his family could not at Elmbrook Hospital, St Lukes Hospital and Harbour Village. He always greeted them with a smile, sometimes a sassy comment and ended the encounter with a sincere thank you.

Visitation Friday November 21, 2025 from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Max A. Sass & Sons Mission Hills Chapel. Additional visitation Saturday November 22, 2025 from 9:30-10:15 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church (7963 S. 116th St., Franklin). Interment Good Hope Cemetery.
