Robert Hobbs Bing was born in Palestine, Texas on May 30, 1939, to RH and Mary Blanche Bing. He was the oldest of four children. After spending his early childhood in Palestine, Oakwood and Austin, TX, Robert (Bob) moved to Madison, WI where he attended West High School, graduating in 1957. While there, he was co-captain of the cross-country team and competed in wrestling. He was also a vice moderator of his church youth group and, for many years, a counselor at the YMCA Camp Wakanda.
He attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where he met Carol Jean Strobl on a blind date. She would become the love of his life and wife of 63 years. While at UW, Bob was a college cheerleader, a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and was part of the ROTC program.
Upon graduating from college in 1961, he became active in the military as a 2nd lieutenant in the army, stationed at Fort Hood, TX. He later achieved captain status as a Medical Service Corps Officer while in the army reserves.
In June of 1963, Bob and Carol were married. After leaving the army, they moved to Chicago, IL where Bob completed his master’s degree at DePaul University and began his career in advertising. He worked at various ad agencies such as Henderson Advertising, J. Walter Thompson and The Bloom Agency.
After many years in advertising, he switched gears and became a Real Estate broker in Austin, TX. He established Bing & Associates (aka The Bing Team) and thoroughly enjoyed helping his clients until retiring in 2017.
Bob was called home to Heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 6, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Pat. He leaves behind his wife, Carol, daughter Beth Anne Bing, son John Stuart Bing and wife, Angelica, grandchildren Robert Nolan Bing and Rylee Hope Bing, sisters Susan Hannah, Gay Hundley (and Tim), and nieces and nephews Brendan Hannah, Jamie Moody, Michael Hundley and Jessica Hundley.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one. John 10: 27-30
