Robert L. “Bob” Blaser, age 79, of Waterville, passed away at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri on August 19, 2021.
Bob was born on April 4, 1942, in Waterville, to Lewis G. and F. Louise (Hedke) Blaser.
He graduated from Waterville High School in 1960. He attended Kansas State University.
In 1964 Bob married Pamela E. Maupin at the Methodist Church in Waterville.
Bob was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Springer Post 332 of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Waterville.
Bob was a farmer and stockman which included raising a small herd of buffalo. He loved the land and farming. He was not afraid to try new things and was one of the first in the area to adopt modern soil conservation practices. Just a few years ago he received a Leading Practices in Soil Conservation award from the Soil Conservation Service. Bob, also known as Butter to his friends, had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, although you often had to pay attention because it could be pretty subtle. He made friends easily and had them from many places. He enjoyed all sports, high school, college and professional. He was a great fan of Valley Heights and Kansas State University sports and enjoyed spending hours and even days going to sporting events with friends.
Survivors include his two children: Nancy Blaser of Overland Park and Robert (Sarah) Blaser Jr. of Lake City, Minnesota, three grandchildren, and a brother Charles (Dee) Blaser of Lawrence.
Preceding Bob in death were his wife Pam, a daughter Betsy and her special friend Darrell Spain, and a sister Marikay Hull.
