Robert Eugene Hutton, the oldest of 3 children of Frank and Gladys (Andrew) Hutton, was born March 22, 1939, at the Auburn Hospital in Auburn, Nebraska. He started school at Locust Grove east of Auburn, walking 2 miles to and from school. When his family moved southwest of Nemaha, Bob went to Champion School and then attended high school in Nemaha. He was one of the freshman boys to letter in football.

Bob was active in 4-H and showing Polled China hogs. While living at home he helped his dad on the farm and would work summers running the Ferris Wheel and cotton candy machine with the Silver Star Carnival. When his father was drafted into the U.S. Navy, the family moved to the Lowrie farm, where Bob lived until manhood. He then found work with corn shelling crews.

In 1957 Bob married Una Faye Robbins and a daughter, Robin, was born to this union. They later divorced. On May 21, 1959, Bob was united in marriage to Deloris Parkhurst at the Nemaha Christian Church. They were blessed with two more children, Laura and Alan.

Adding to his career resume, Bob worked at Johnson Motor Company and Auburn Machine Works. In 1961, Bob and his family moved to Falls City while he worked for the State of Nebraska. They then moved back to rural Nemaha to return to farming and Bob started his custom corn shelling business.

In 1999 Bob was elected as District 1 Commissioner for Nemaha County. He retired from the position in 2019, but during his time in office he served on the boards of Blue River Area on Aging, SENCA, SENDDS, and the Nemaha Cemetery. He continued to help on the farm as long as his health allowed.

Experiencing more severe health issues, Bob had spent some time in hospitals and became a resident of Good Samaritan Society-Auburn on October 10, 2025. He passed away there on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 9 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law JoAnn and Ed Smith, sister-in-law Sylvia Hutton, and son-in-law Randy Sudman.

Bob is survived by his wife Deloris of Nemaha; daughters and son-in-law Robin Sudman of Nemaha, Laura and Bryan Gossman of Stella; son and daughter-in-law Alan and Jackie Hutton of Auburn; grandchildren Shane Sudman, Shannon Sudman, Shauna Sudman, Renee (Sam) Carter, Brett Hutton, Debra (Troy) Hinrichsen, Kyle (Paulina) Gossman; 19 great-grandchildren; brother Bill Hutton of Auburn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Nemaha Cemetery at Nemaha. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00.

Memorials are suggested to Nemaha Rescue Squad, Nemaha Cemetery, Auburn Rescue Squad, or family choice.
