Robert "Bob" Lojewski Obituary

Published by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on Jul. 17, 2016.
Robert W. "Bob" Lojewski passed away suddenly on July 17, 2016 at age 83. Born in Philadelphia on November 13, 1932, Bob was the son of Angela (Glinska) and Anton Lojewski. He resided in Blue Bell with his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Catherine E. (Boyle) Lojewski. Bob was the proud father of Linda Lojewski (Bill Mitrocsak), Christine Schmidt, Bob Lojewski (Mary Kay) and Steve Lojewski (Helen). He was the cherished grandfather of Amanda, Bobby, Alexis, Steven, Andrew, and Evan Lojewski. He was devoted brother to his sister, Connie Lojewski. Bob attended Central and Simon Gratz High Schools, and then attended the University of Hawaii and Temple University on basketball scholarships. Bob played on traveling professional basketball teams, which took him to every State in the US with the exception of Alaska, as well as most countries in South America. He played for the South Philadelphia Hebrew Association (SPHAs). Bob was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors. Following his engagement to Catherine, he left basketball and spent his career in the beverage industry. Upon his retirement from Penn Distributors, Bob was Vice President for Sales and Marketing. In retirement Bob became a prolific painter and student of art, joining his brother-in-law Jim in taking art classes. He enjoyed dinner parties and laughs with brothers-in-law Eddie and Jerry, and their wives Patricia and Sandy. His brother-in-law Joe's place in Manhattan Beach, CA, was a favorite vacation spot where he enjoyed many good times with Joe, his wife Sharon and Bob's wife Cathy on the Lucky Lady Too. Bob regularly attended his grandchildren's sporting events and was their greatest and most enthusiastic fan. Bob always put his family first; he loved family time at the beach house in Ocean City, NJ, and wherever his loved ones happened to be. Relatives and friends are invited to Bob's Life Celebration at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 W. Germantown Pike on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 9:30-11:30 AM. Interment will be private. With a Polish name like Lojewski, if memory hasn't yet completely faded, I recall as a young man taking on a very fine basketball player by the name of Bob Lojewski in the gym at the Nicetown Boys Club just opposite Gratz High school. I believe if not in error this Lojewski also played basketball at Saint Joseph's College. If my recall is inorrect, my sincere apologies and my deepest sympathy extended to the Lojewski family. May he "Requiescat in Pace _Rest in Peace".

Bob Lojewski was a "larger than life" gentleman with good taste and a personality plus. He was an artist, comedian and lover of life and family, especially his beloved wife Cathy. He will be missed by Jerry & myself.

My deepest sympathy to my sister-in-law, Linda, and to the Lojewski family. Your dad was a one of a kind.
Always spirited and looking to bring laughter to any room he was in. May he rest in peace.
