Robert J. "Bob" Parkins, 85, died on November 13, 2025, in Bozeman, MT
Born in Ottawa, Illinois, he was a standout athlete and Ottawa High School Hall of Fame inductee. He earned a basketball scholarship to Montana State University, lettering in basketball and track from 1958-1962.
Bob worked at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls and later spent a long career with Borg-Warner/General Electric, retiring as GE's Western Safety Manager. In 2002, he and his wife Pat moved to Bozeman, where he remained an enthusiastic supporter of MSU.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Diane Degenkolb (Steve) and Debbie Masiak; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Peterson and Joan Torcelli; and brother-in-law, William (Janeen) Goodins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Everette; and stepsons, Nicholas and Christopher Howell.
Services will be held in Marseilles, Illinois, with a later celebration of life in Bozeman.
