Robert “Bob” Frederick Smead, 65, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on July 18, 2024. Bob was born on April 4, 1959, in Galesburg, Illinois to William Sr. and Patricia Smead. He graduated from Palatine High School and worked as a tool and die maker. Bob enjoyed playing the guitar, teaching others about Jesus, painting, spending time with family and watching movies, football and Nascar. Bob was injured at work in 2011 which left him disabled and then in 2021 he suffered a major stroke that affected the mobility of his right side along with his speech. No matter his circumstance Bob made the best out of all that he was dealt.
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 27 years, Fran Smead; children, Victoria (Marty) Schmitt, James (Anna) Smead, Sharon (Dave) Powell, Gerald Powell Jr., Timothy (Tarra) Powell, and Heather Williams; 14 grandchildren and 1 on the way;3 great grandchildren; mother, Patricia Smead; brother, William (Chris) Smead Jr.; and many more extended family. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 11am-1pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory 419 E Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014.
