Robert Marion “Bobby” Hardin, 91, passed away on March 18, 2026. He was born on November 4, 1934, in Orange, Texas, to Frank and Rose Hardin. After high school, Bobby served his country in the United States Army. Bobby was a longtime member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters of Local 106, where he worked for many years before retiring. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 179. Known by many as the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Hackberry”—a title no one ever opposed—Bobby was truly one of a kind. He was the life of the party, remembered for his spirit, his humor, and his ability to jitterbug better than anyone…even with a beer can balanced on his head.
He is survived by his children: Wayde Landry and wife Melissa, and their son Jarret; Denise Hardin and her children Chase and Mason Hicks and Price Durio; Wesley Hardin and his children Hannah and Emma; Medina Hardin Cormier and husband Clark; Layne Hardin and his children Hayden, Kaenan, and late Jason Jude Hardin; Wayne Hardin and his child Hayes. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Dayton, Hadleigh, and Maddlyn Hicks; numerous nieces and nephews of Orange, Tx; and his former wife, Deltra Guidry Hardin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 siblings; and many nieces and nephews, all of Orange, Texas.
Graveside services for Bobby will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 11:30 AM at New Hackberry Cemetery in Hackberry. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary at 6:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 10 AM until time to leave for the cemetery.
