Robert Bochsler Obituary

Robert Emil Bochsler

July 13, 1932 - August 24, 2025

Meridian, Idaho - Robert "Bob" Bochsler, 93, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025.

He was born on July 13, 1932, in Mt. Angel, Oregon, to Emil and Josephine Bochsler, the third of three children.

Bob graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Horticulture and Soil Sciences, a field that reflected his lifelong love of the land and cultivation.

His career took him from Pendleton, Oregon, to Nampa, Idaho, and eventually to Avon, New York. After more than 30 years in the food industry with Birds Eye and Kraft Foods, Bob retired in Avon and returned to Idaho, settling in Meridian, where he often said that "every day felt like a Saturday." Along the way, he not only made lasting contributions to his work but also formed friendships that endured throughout his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy. He is survived by his children, Mary Beth Curry, Bob (Nancy) Bochsler, Jack (Joanne) Bochsler, Jane (Steve) Regnier, Daniel (Shaina) Bochsler, and Anne (Chris) Harrington; along with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy and pride.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob loved hiking, fishing, and hunting. He carried that same passion into his own backyard, where his garden was a source of both pride and generosity-especially his rhubarb, which he shared abundantly with family and friends, who looked forward to "rhubarb season" every year.

He was also a lifelong reader, had a fondness for country music, never missed an episode of Hee-Haw, and enjoyed a good gin and tonic on a hot summer's day.

A private family service will be held, and Bob will be laid to rest beside Betsy, his beloved wife of 58 years, in the columbarium at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Idaho Trails Association (idahotrailsassociation.org), honoring Bob's love for the outdoors.

Services are under the care of Accent Funeral Home. Remembrances may be left at www.AccentFuneral.com.

Yesterday

So sorry to hear of Bobs passing. I remember him from Birdseye in Nampa. I tried giving my Roadmaster bike to his daughter, but Bob wanted her to pay for it from her babysitting money. Probably a good lesson. They painted it red and I hope she enjoyed it for years. He and Betsy were such wonderful people and a blessing to their family.
With heartfelt prayers and sincere sympathy, Diana Baker.
