Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Ltd. - Bakerstown on Nov. 21, 2022.
Robert R. Bollinger, age 84, of Gibsonia, passed away at home on November 18, 2022. Born in Latrobe, PA on November 1, 1938 and raised in Derry, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Anna Barron Bollinger. Beloved husband for 64 years of Nannette Loftis Bollinger. Loving father of Donald (Justine) Bollinger, Cheryl (Jim) O'Hare and Robert (Simon) Bollinger. Dear grandfather of Nicole (Steve), Sean (Gena), and Jimmy. Also survived by two great-grandchildren, Braden and Owen, and soon baby Evelynn.
After serving in the Air Force, Bob became a talented software programmer, entering the new field of computers in the 1960's. He wrote programs that controlled naval ships, airplanes, medical devices, and more.
Bob loved St. Richard's Church, where he sang on the choir for many years and formed the St. Vincent DePaul chapter. Sundays were not complete without attending mass and going to breakfast with dear friends.
He spent countless hours in his garden and loved to share his gift of homegrown vegetables with family and friends. He started plants for others as well, encouraging them to garden.
Bob often said "I have a beautiful family". He was a devoted husband, married to Nan for 64 years. They loved to have a drink on the deck at the end of the day, cook dinner together, and go to bed late. He was a wonderful father who raised his children by example, committed to honesty, integrity, and hard work. No distance was too far to spend time with family, making many trips to Colorado, Michigan, New York, and Florida over the years. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren -- who he loved beating in poker, 66, and lowman.
