Born on June 4, 1942, in Sidney, Ohio and raised in Fort Loramie, Ohio, Bob was the son of Mary (Ritter) and Joseph Borchers. Bob was a varsity basketball and baseball player and achieved the honor of an Eagle Scout.

On August 13, 1966, Bob married Jennifer Lucille Coppage at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Columbus, Ohio. Together, they raised three children: Robyn, Kristin, and Jeff.
He was a loving husband and father, an avid fisherman and a huge Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. A man of immense Catholic faith and great integrity, his generosity overflowed to others. He enjoyed his time with the St. Peter Knights of Columbus and Singing Buckeyes Chorus.
