Robert Braden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Krueger Funeral Home, Ltd. on Jan. 12, 2026.
Robert "Bob" A. Braden, 66, of Alsip, passed from this life on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Bob was born on May 27, 1959, in Blue Island, to the late Bruce and the late Elfreda Braden.

Bob is the beloved husband of Laura B. They were united in marriage for thirty-six years, during which time they created a warm, loving home and built a strong family together. He is the devoted father of Zachary R. and Andrew J. (Haley). Bob was a very proud grandfather to Addilyn, cherishing every moment spent with his granddaughter, who brought him tremendous joy. He is the much-loved brother of Cheryl (Thomas) Hammerstein. Bob is also remembered as a dear uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews and a cousin to many. He leaves many other friends and family members to cherish his memory.

A lifelong member of the community, Bob was also a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church. He dedicated his life to service as a retired firefighter and paramedic, proudly serving the Alsip and Blue Island communities. He also served with honor on their honor guard, a role that reflected his deep respect for his profession and those he served alongside. Bob had a lifelong fascination with fire, which ultimately led him to a career he was immensely proud of-protecting others and giving back to his community with courage and compassion. Above all else, Bob had an unconditional love for his dogs, especially his beloved rescued Rottweilers, who held a special place in his heart.

Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, January 15th, from 3:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 PM, at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 12951 Maple Ave., Blue Island, IL 60406.
