Robert ¨Bobby¨ Brennan, 82, of Middletown, passed away peacefully Monday, February 23, 2026, at Village House in Newport. A loving father, grandpa, uncle, brother, son, friend, and neighbor, he was the husband of the late Judy (White) Brennan. Born July 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose (Meehan) Brennan.

Born and raised in Newport on Prescott Hall Road, Bob spent his time as a youth playing baseball on the Coggeshall School playground, boxing, working as a pin boy, and causing mischief in the neighborhood. He attended Rogers High School and subsequently served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964, where he was primarily stationed in Zaragoza, Spain, guarding nuclear weapons-and running with the bulls in Pamplona while off duty. Upon his return home from service, Bob took an unplanned and unexpected cross-country trip to Los Angeles, California, with three of his childhood buddies in a 1957 Chevy; that trip lasted six months, and the tales he shared of that experience would give Robert Ripley reason to pause.

After returning home for good from California and working construction for C&B Building Company for several years, Bob began his 25-year career with the Newport Fire Department in 1967. Known on the NFD as ¨Mr. B¨-the counterpart to his good friend and fellow firefighter ¨Mr.P¨ Michael Palmer-Bob served his community honorably. In retirement from the NFD, ¨Mr.B¨ hosted a bimonthly ¨baked bean lunch¨ for NFD members at his home, and these luncheons became a legend in the firehouse.

Bobby's eccentric personality and one-of-a-kind perspective on life was a sight to behold and a marvel to encounter. As a man, Bob was all of the following: avid gardener, exercise enthusiast, money saver, legendary storyteller, hot sauce/hot pepper connoisseur, coupon clipper, generous gentleman, stubborn Irishman, and proud father and Papa. He met the love of his life Judy in the spring of 1979, and they were married in the fall of that same year. He enjoyed picnicking around Ocean Drive with her on spring and summer days; he enjoyed listening to ¨oldies¨ music of the 1950s and 1960s; he enjoyed watching football, boxing, and action-packed thrillers; and most of all, he enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. In recent years, he enjoyed going over to his niece Kristin's house and spending time with her and her friends, who affectionately called him their very own ¨Uncle Robert.¨

Bob is survived by his daughter Lori (Brennan) Becker and her husband Scott of Warren, RI; his son Raleigh Brennan and his wife Meg of Newport; his son-in-law Paul Ferioli of Greene, RI; his grandchildren Lyndon and Aaron Ferioli; Ryan, Kyle, and Erika Becker; and Jameson and Jane Brennan; and his great-grandson LJ Ferioli. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Judy (Ford) Brennan and his nieces Melissa (Brennan) Quinlan, Katherine (Brennan) Benson, Kristin Brennan, Taylor Sabatino, and their families. He was the father of the late Christine (Brennan) Ferioli, and he was the brother of the late Timothy Joseph Brennan.

At the request of the family, burial will be private, and a celebration of life will be held in the spring.
