Robert Arthur Bright, Jr., 82, of Mableton, GA., died on November 26, 2025. Born June 27, 1943, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of Robert Arthur Bright, Sr. and Helen Smith Bright. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert was retired from United States Postal Service after 25 years of service. He was also with Brink's for 14 years. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and the Reserves from 1961 to 1967.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his family on many vacations throughout the years but especially enjoyed Panama City Beach, FL. He also enjoyed tinkering on classic vehicles, especially his 1971 Ford truck and cheering for his favorite sports teams, the Atlanta Braves and the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years Jessie Mae Cumbee Bright of Mableton, GA; three daughters, Karen Knight and her husband, Rick of Carrollton, GA., Bobbie Hutchinson and her husband, Jeremy of Newnan, GA, and Kris Stephens and her husband, Chuck of McClellanville, SC; five grandchildren, Justin Sherman and his wife, Sarah of Grantville, GA, Ricky Knight, Jr. of Carrollton, GA, Kristen Sherman of Newnan, GA, and John Stephens and Sarah Stephens, both of McClellanville, SC; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Hill of Newnan, GA.
Special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Wellstar Cobb Medical Center in Austell, GA.
Family will receive visitors from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home, 222 St. James St., Georgetown, SC 29440, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Wrens Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1755 Hwy 45, McClellanville, SC 29458.
