Robert Brooks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Dec. 20, 2025.
February 25, 1949 – December 10, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Drake Brooks, lovingly known as Bob, who departed this world on December 10, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on February 25, 1949, in Los Angeles, California, Bob embodied a spirit of warmth and generosity that enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.

Bob dedicated much of his life to his work as a salesman, with a special passion for construction and home improvement sales. He found fulfillment in connecting with people and helping them realize their dreams for their homes. His engaging personality and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laurie Brooks; his children Steven Brooks, Matt Clayton, Haley Walker, Marisa Misner, Emily Jo Stevens, Nicolas Stevens; Grand Grandchildren Terrell Clayton, Annie Gillespie, Elijah Clayton, David Clayton, Naiomi Clayton, Gracie Royer and most recently a Great Grand; Julia Clayton. As well as three brothers Mike Brooks, Bill Brooks, Jim Brooks and Sister Barbra Devore (Bill).

Bob is preceded in death by his father, Forest Brooks; his mother, Alice Brooks; and a son, David Clayton, who remains fondly remembered in the hearts of his loved ones.

An enthusiast of Western movies, a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Colorado Avalanche, a lover of classic rock music, motorcycles, and pets, Bob's adventurous and playful spirit brought joy to many. His ability to find happiness in the simple pleasures of life will be urgently missed by family and friends. He was also most proud of his six years in the Army National Guard.

In celebration of his life, a visitation will be held on December 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, located at 3506 North National Ave, Springfield, MO 65803. Bob will then be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at 2:30 PM on the same day.

As we gather to honor and remember Bob, we invite everyone whose lives were touched by his kindness and love to join us in reflecting upon the legacy he leaves behind. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
