Bob was born on December 17, 1937, at home in Wellsburg, Iowa to his parents Carl and Verdena (Kaiser) Brower. He attended school through the 8th grade in Holland and graduated from Grundy Center High School in the Class of 1956. Bob was in the Army Reserves from 1958 until 1962. He was called into active duty in 1960 through 1962 due to the Berlin Wall Crisis. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Bob returned to Iowa and started his own trucking company he operated for 43 years until his retirement in 2002.
Bob was united in marriage to Darlyne Aswegan on December 14, 1973, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Together they welcomed their daughter Kimberly and son Kyle into their family.
Bob was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, where he served the church on the council. He enjoyed hunting with his friends and family. Bob loved to play fast pitch softball. He played from the 7th grade until 1978. Bob loved to visit with people, he was a people person. He especially enjoyed coffee with his friends in the mornings. However, Bob’s true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bob’s hero was Roy Rogers. He always said Roy had good morals.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife Darlyne Brower of Holland; children Kimberly Brower of Grundy Center and Kyle (Tara) Brower of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren Mason and Greenley Brower; Wichita, Kansas; brothers Bernard and Charles Brower of Holland; sisters Mary and Nancy Brower of Holland; sisters-in-law Mildred Rewerts of Aplington and Janet Aswegan of Grundy Center; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Larry Rewerts and Bill Aswegan.
