Robert Lee "Bob" Brown of Clinton, Mo. passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025 at the age of 92. He was born on November 11, 1932 to George R. Brown and Mary Virginia Brown (Lee). Bob was the third son of four boys and one girl. His mother Virginia passing away when he was 5.
Bob graduated from Greenwood Laboratory School in Springfield, Mo. During his academic career he set a record of lettering all four years in Basketball, Football, Golf and Track. After graduating high school, Bob entered the United States Navy where he served 2 years during the Korean War. Shortly after returning home he married his childhood sweetheart Beverly before pursuing his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri. Bob retired from the Kansas City Public Works Dept. after 30 years. Bob and Beverly moved away from the city to live in the golf community of Meadow Lake in Clinton, Mo., in 1994.
Bob was a member of Missouri Professional Society of Engineers, The American Water and Waste Association and The City of Clinton MO Water Board.
He is preceded in death by his father; mother; three brothers Terry, Frank and Russell; two sons, Christopher L. Brown of Texas and James R. Brown of Kansas City.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Beverly Brown (Rice); son Tim Brown and daughter-in-law Teresa; sister Beverly Nelson (Brown) of Indiana; he leaves five grandchildren, Robby Brown of Lee's Summit, Ashlee Brown of Kansas City, Justin Brown of Blue Springs, Lauren (Justin) Swinney Brown of Texas and Jessica (Josh) Henry Brown of Texas; three great-grandchildren Ava Street of Missouri, and Zola and Jaxson Swinney of Texas.
Bob was baptized in 1948 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield, Mo at the age of 14. He has spent the last 31 years as a member of Clinton Christian Church where he served as Deacon.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was loving and generous to his family, church and friends.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the Clinton Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., just prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
