Memorial services for Robert "Bubba" Van Eps of Cyrus, Minnesota, will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Hancock Christian Reformed Church in Hancock, with Reverend Harrison Newhouse officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Robert Dean Van Eps, son of Walter and Clazina (Ver Steeg) Van Eps, was born February 8, 1953 in Morris, Minnesota. At a young age, Robert’s family moved to East Grand Forks, where he grew up and attended school, graduating from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1971. Following his schooling, Bob worked for local potato farmers. He was united in marriage to Peggy Rich on June 2, 1973 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. In 1974, they moved to Hancock, where they started their family. Bob worked for his uncle Jake Van Eps on his dairy farm for a short time before starting work at the Morris Co-op. Bob worked in the fertilizer department for many years, retiring in 2014. Following retirement, Bob worked for Pat White doing fieldwork. Bob and Peggy spent the last seven winters in Mesa, Arizona. Bob continued to live at his home near Cyrus, Minnesota until the time of his death.
Bob enjoyed playing sports in his younger years, including softball, basketball and bowling. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time at his cabin with his family in Baudette. He was an avid gardener, sharing with his friends and neighbors. He will be missed by his friends and family.
Bob passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, North Dakota. He was 70 years old.
He is survived by his wife: Peggy Van Eps of Cyrus; three children: Darren (Robyn) Van Eps of Cyrus, Barry Van Eps of Cyrus and Christie (Justin) Ressler of Montgomery; seven grandchildren: Tyler (special friend: Aspen Cardwell) Van Eps, Cassandra Van Eps, Hunter Van Eps, Paxton Van Eps, Keira Ressler, McKenzie Ressler and Joseph Ressler; five siblings: James (Julie) Van Eps of Grand Forks, ND, Suzanne (Richard) Smith of Morris, Kenneth (Rachel) Van Eps of East Grand Forks, MN, Delray Van Eps of Crookston and LaRae (Curt) Foerster of Grand Forks, ND; three sisters-in-law: Judy (Robert) Paulsen, Doris Martin and Nancy Freeman; one brother-in-law: Richard Rich and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law; nephew: Matthew Paulsen; great-nephew: Declan Leehan; brother-in-law: Terry Rich and several aunts and uncles.
