Robert Lee Butler Sr.

Retired Sergeant First Class Robert Lee Butler, Sr. was born on August 2, 1953, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Mozelle (Butler) and Charlie Harth. He departed this life on Friday, September 23, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Robert was raised in Columbia, SC and attended Richland County Public Schools. Following his graduation from Booker T. Washington High School in 1972, he pursued a career in Brick Masonry.
Robert married his childhood sweetheart, the late Mother Frank Hazel Butler. They were married for over 52 years and were blessed with three (3) wonderful children, Tiffany, Robin, and Robert, Jr.
Robert was hungry for life. After a successful career in masonry, he volunteered to serve his country as an Infantryman in the United States Army. During his distinguished military career, he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class, and served honorably for fourteen years until he was medically retired from the military.
After retiring and receiving an Honorable Discharge from the military, Robert continued to serve his country by working for the United States Postal Service for over (9) nine years until his second retirement.
After he retired, Robert enjoyed his later years working on his estate and relaxing on his porch with the love of his life, his late wife, Frank Hazel Butler.
Robert was a "Man's Man." He got up every morning, regardless of the storm and gave it his all. Robert put his family first and never faltered on making sure his children were prepared to face and conquer the hardships of this world. He was a master at commanding his estate and earned the respect of everyone around him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, counselor, and a child of God. Robert was the type of Man that every Man should strive to emulate; he was a "Good Man".
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Frank Hazel Butler; parents, Mozelle (Butler) and Charlie Harth; his three brothers, Jerry Butler, Henry Arthur Butler, and Ester Clay Butler.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three loving and devoted children, Tiffany (Jordon) Davis, Robin Butler, and Robert Lee Butler Jr., all of Columbia, SC; one brother, Charlie J. Butler of Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law, Franklin Bolton of Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Kathleen (Lonnie) Jackson of Aiken, SC; further, he leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and God-children; one uncle, Robert Major, several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that loved and will miss him dearly.
