Robert Butler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2012.
Butler Robert "Bob" G. Butler, Jr., 54, passed away at his home on April 21, 2012. Born in Albuquerque, N.M., Bob is survived by his children Ryan B. Butler and Sarah R. Butler of Audubon, PA, his parents Robert G. Butler Sr. and June Crow Butler of Washington, PA, his sister Becky Butler Restifo of Florida, his brother Bryan Butler of North Carolina, his former wife Susan C. Butler of Audubon, PA, and a cadre of loving extended family members and friends. Bob lived in Erie, PA throughout his childhood and had lived in the Philadelphia area since 1987. He was a dedicated and talented architect, and, until recently, he had been employed at Kling Stubbins. Bob attended McDowell Senior High School in Erie, PA where he was captain of his wrestling team. He went on to attend Kent State University, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelors of Science in Architecture. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed biking, running, skiing, and kayaking. He loved sports and was a great fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and Phillies. In his youth, he was active in Boy Scouts of America and participated in wilderness camping at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His love of camping continued throughout his life and he shared this love with his family on regular treks to spend time at his parent's cabin in Somerset, PA where he enjoyed relaxing, reveling in nature, and fishing, especially with his daughter Sarah. Bob was a beloved family man who had a passion for art and music. His creative energy often was directed toward photography, furniture making and remodeling the homes he lived in over the years. Most recently he cherished renovating his home in Philadelphia where the application of his design skills and attention to detail is a shining legacy to his talent. His love of music was evident everywhere in his life. He loved listening to music and loved playing the guitar, especially with his son Ryan, as well as the harmonica given to him by his late grandfather, Arthur Bailey Crow. If there was music playing, Bob would dance as if no one was watching. Most of all, Bob loved his family, and was loved, in turn, by them. Relatives and friends are invited to Bob's Life Celebration Memorial service on Thursday April 26, from 6 to 7:30 PM at Boyd-Horrox of East Norriton 200 West Germantown Pike 1-800-GIVNISH. His memorial service will begin at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. To share your fondest memories of Bob visit www.lifecelebration.com.
