Robert Cantrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel on Jan. 30, 2023.
Robert Francis "Frank" Cantrell passed away on January 21, 2023 following a brief illness at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. Frank was born June 26, 1941 in Salinas, California to Bob and Irene Cantrell.
He lived most of his life in Salinas, with the exception of the time he moved his family to Iran in 1978 for work reasons and for an adventure he would always remember.
Frank graduated from Salinas High School in 1959. Upon graduation, Frank joined the Navy at the age of 17, where he served his country for two and a half years aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard.
After the Navy, Frank returned to Salinas where he attended and graduated from Hartnell College. When he was back in town a friend introduced him to Toni Scornaienchi, who he would go on to marry in 1964. They were married for 58 years.
Frank worked for AT&T for 40 years, where he retired as an engineer. He never took a sick day during those 40 years. He was also a loyal volunteer for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am for 43 years.
He was a dedicated employee and moreover, a family man. There was nothing more important to Frank than his family and he always put his wife and children first.
Frank is survived by his loving wife Toni Cantrell. He is also survived by his children Stacy Carnazzo (Jeff) and Steven Cantrell (Michelle); his grandchildren Joe Carnazzo (Jenna), Olivia Fellom (Ryan), Iris Cantrell and Cooper Cantrell; his great-grandchildren (who brought him so much joy) Layton Carnazzo and Brady Fellom; his sister Karen Naval (Mike), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank is preceded in death by his siblings Elwood Cantrell and Sharen Cantrell.
The family will hold a private burial at Garden of Memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Corral de Tierra Country Club, 81 Corral de Tierra Road, Salinas, CA. 93908 on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at 11:30 a.m.
Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be dearly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society or VNA/Hospice in honor of Frank Cantrell.
