Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Dec. 18, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the death of Robert James Cassell, 88, of Wauwatosa,
Wisconsin, who passed away surrounded by family on December 6, 2025.
Bob is survived by his children, Kari Cassell, Kristin Splittgerber (Tim), Katy Geisler (Michael), and Mark Cassell (Heather); his 9 grandchildren, Ashley Lois (Eric), Lauren Schneider (Jake), Jessica Splittgerber (Sara), Justin Geisler (Madison), Griffin Geisler (Abbey), Jenna Geisler, Quinn Cassell, Owen Cassell, and Kaitlin Cassell; his 4 great grandchildren, Beckett Lois, Ellorie Lois, Ainsley Lois, and Duncan Schneider; his sister-in-law JoAnn Corrigan and brother-in-law Paul Tagliola. Bob is predeceased by: his wife Carol, his parents Mary McGuire and Jerome 'James' Cassel; and his sister-in-law Mary Tagliola.
A faithful Packer and Brewers fan who loved to have fun with his Chicago born grandchildren who were Cubs fans – no Bears fans in this family! Bob was a husband, father, grand and great grandfather; Bob and Carol spent most of their married years in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, while also taking advantage of being "snowbirds" in Naples, Florida from January to April each year. They were deeply rooted in friends, travel, and the St. Joseph's Catholic Church community, of
Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Their "Four Seasons Group" organized adventures for every season: rafting down the Colorado River (where Carol broke her back), Door County Adventures, the
red rocks of Sedona, Arizona, Boulder Junction, Hawaii, while also traveling internationally to China, Russia, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
Bob and Carol's beginning years were spent in
Brookfield, Wisconsin, which laid the foundation for some of the tightest relationships to grow through life with. LOTS of kids, babysitters, young parents, an open field for corn roasts, and a patch work of yards for all sorts of mischief! The stories grew as the neighborhood grew into a big, powerful, inclusive footprint; a loving community admired and cherished by the younger generations. Bob's story comes full circle as a final resting place at St. Camillus, among his tight neighborhood of friends, and his faithful commitment to Christ. Apartments replaced yards, the stories are still large, and the mischief hasn't stopped.
Bob spent 37 years as a Financial Advisor at Robert W. Baird & Co. before retiring in 2004. Born in
Wauwatosa, WI, he attended Wauwatosa East High School and went on to Marquette University
where he met Carol. Both were die-hard Warrior basketball fans.
Bob will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his unique ability to enter a room full of strangers and leave with good friends. He had a special talent for inclusion, not leaving anyone out especially in their time of need. He embraced their pain and discomfort. He had a kind, generous, and trustworthy soul; impressively taking such good care of Carol during her final months with Alzheimer's. His love for Carol and her artist gift, he left behind a dedication to her in the beautiful art gallery at St. Camillus.
Bob entered Froedtert MICU after a fall, 2 years to the day, after we lost Carol. A special thank you to Froedtert Hospital MICU and the San Camillus skilled nursing hospice staff for their care, compassion, and assistance in Bob's final days. You truly are angels and the Cassell family is blessed to have shared both parents with you as you shined your caregiving talents on them. A special thank you also goes to Mary Weller, Carole Berg, and Marilyn Squire for your loving and caring friendships.
Memorial Services will be held for Bob Cassell on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026. A funeral mass will take place at 3pm, visitation from 1-3pm in the St. Camillus West Residence, San Camillo Chapel, at 10200 W. Bluemound Rd.,
Wauwatosa, WI 53226 (across from the Milwaukee Zoo). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the The Order of St. Camillus
Foundation or the Capuchin Community Services. Thank you!
