Fort Worth, Texas - Robert Chadwell, 92, went to his heavenly home on September 16, 2025. Robert was born in Vernon, Texas to Delbert Clifton Chadwell and Jessie Ophelia Loe Chadwell. He was raised in Mount Pleasant, Texas and graduated high school in 1953 from Mount Pleasant. Robert was an All-State Choir Member and acted in leading roles for school plays.
Robert served in the U.S. Army (1953-1955) with the rank of CPL as a gunnery operator in the 546 AAA Battalion (75mm Gun). He later served in the Army Reserves and Air Force Reserves up until 1960 as a Radar Specialist and Gunnery Training Specialist.
He owned a small ranch in East Texas and trained cutting horses for rodeo competition and trying out a few bucking broncs.
Robert attended TCU in 1958-1959, where he studied mathematics. From 1957 to 1969 he worked in engineering as a Test Systems Engineer for Convair at the Daingerfield Wind Tunnell, for NASA in the Apollo Fuel Cell program and General Dynamics as an Aerospace System Engineer.
Robert married Lue Dover on May 29, 1965 after mutual friends set them up on a blind date. They moved to Fort Worth in 1966 and joined Richland Hills Baptist Church where they raised 4 children. He taught Junior High Sunday school and later College and Career for young adults. Robert and Lue celebrated their 60th anniversary on May 29, 2025.
In the 70's and 80's he operated a construction company that built and renovated several churches across Texas and also worked commercial and residential remodeling. In 1980 he was involved in two accidents that broke his back, causing brain injury and severe intestinal damage and eventually forced him to shut down his company. During these years their home church had annual revivals. God grew him spiritually and called him to the mission field in a March 1988 revival.
Robert served as Regional Mission Consultant for Baptist North American Mission Board from 1988 to 2004 and spoke in over 300 churches as NAMB Regional Consultants guiding volunteers. He volunteered as Missions Coordinator for Tarrant Baptist Association and Mission Consultant at World Mission Center of SWBTS counseling students. He served in preaching, teaching and evangelism in 3 smaller churches in Texas. He was ordained as a minister in 2005 at Acton Baptist Church. He pastored a church in 2005 in Alberta, Canada. He was later assigned as Regional Church Strengtheners to 3 churches in northern Alberta. He retired from Home Mission Board in 2010 where he and wife, Lue, helped develop a more comprehensive prayer ministry in Acton Baptist.
Robert was a humble loving husband and father. They had been blessed to travel to Isreal, Petra, Jordan, England and Canada. In later years his heart condition prevented him from travelling and other activities. He lived a full-blessed life.
