NORTH ATTLEBORO – Robert L. Chamberlain, 78, of
North Attleboro, Massachusetts and New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully with his daughters and two of his granddaughters by his side on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in Attleboro, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline "Jackie" (Roberts) Chamberlain, who passed away on April 16, 2003, and the devoted fiancé of Carole Huden of New Port Richey, Florida.
Born in
Asheville, North Carolina on May 22, 1947, he was the loving son of the late Ernest A. and Loretta A. (Gingras) Chamberlain. Bob grew up in Attleboro and was educated in Attleboro schools. He later heeded his country's call, enlisting in the United States Army, where he earned his GED and, following his service, an associate's degree.
A proud and highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, Bob served three tours and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on November 5, 1975. Having been wounded during the war, he was still awaiting receipt of his Purple Heart at the time of his passing.
Following his military service, Bob founded CI Associates, his own construction business, which he owned and operated throughout his working career until retirement. A skilled builder and natural tinkerer, he loved working with his hands and could always be found building, fixing, or improving something.
Bob enjoyed deep sea fishing and, while living in Florida with Carole, running along the beach. He loved music, dancing, and singing karaoke, enjoyed playing cards, and was well known for his sharp wit, playful sass, and sense of humor. A true jokester, he kept those around him laughing. He especially loved his faithful dog, Willy.
Above all, Bob was a devoted and doting grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent playing with them and building projects just for them.
In addition to his fiancé, Carole, he is survived by his loving daughters, Allysa Ross and her husband Daniel of North Attleboro, and Sonya Dumaine and her husband Neil of Attleboro. He was the proud Papa of his cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Marissa, Abigail, Shane, Sophia, Jacqueline, Julianna, Savanah, Kayla, Riley, and his bonus granddaughter, Hannah. He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond Chamberlain and Lawrence Chamberlain, and leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ernest, Leo, and Viola.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, beginning with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living and HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care for the kindness, comfort, and dignity shown to Bob in his final days.
