Robert Chester Cherry

Passed away after a lengthy illness Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Healthsource of Saginaw, at age 82. Bob was born on April 16, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late Chester and Betty (Dahmer) Cherry. He was united in marriage to Louise A. Ghiringhelli on May 2, 1987 in Saginaw, Michigan.
For 45 years Robert could be found behind the barber's chair, scissors in hand and a story always ready to share. The Family Barber Shop that he co-owned with Don Haight, was more than just a place for a haircut- it was a gathering spot filled with laughter, conversation, and community. Whether you were a longtime customer or a walk-in, you left with a fresh cut and a smile, often carrying one of his famous stories along with you. Bob also enjoyed golfing, going to the shooting range, spending time with his horse and vacationing with friends. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Louise, his children, Karen Huff, Paul (Lisa) Cherry, Jennifer (Chris) Frank, 8 grandchildren, Mike Cherry, Sara (Dustin) Ankerson, Tyler Macey, Matt Macey, Hannah Macey, Garrett (Gabrielle) Frank, Lauren (Nate) Krueger and Eli Frank, 4 great grand-children, Logan and Analeigh Ankerson, Amora and Ezra Krueger, 1 sister, Pat Schullo, 1 brother Tim (Kathy) Cherry, 1 sister in-law and 2 brother in-laws, Shirley Goris, Terry (Lorrie) Ghiringhelli and Peter (Patty) Ghiringhelli, his lifelong friend, Jim Chernow and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by a beloved granddaughter, Jessica Huff.
Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd. Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Christian Tabares to officiate the service. Entombment to follow in Chapel Hill Mausoleum, Freeland Michigan. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass.
